Immigration to countries like the United States and Canada can be a complex and expensive process. Today, approximately 4.5 million Brazilians live abroad, according to the most recent data from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A survey by Datafolha indicates that these numbers are only expected to increase: 76% of young people in 12 Brazilian capitals have some or a strong desire to leave the country.

However, immigration isn't simple, and new requirements are constantly being announced. To simplify this process, Jumpstart created an artificial intelligence (AI) virtual assistant that answers immigration questions quickly, conveniently, and freely. The startup, founded by Brazilian Fabiano Rocha, raised R$2.8 million in a pre-seed round, with angel investors including Brian Requarth (Latitud) and Matthew Allan (former director of credit at PayPal and Google).

"I went through three immigration processes, and they were all complicated. No matter how qualified you are, there are always obstacles and high costs. My experience motivated me to create a solution to simplify this journey for other Brazilians," explains Fabiano Rocha, founder and CEO of Jumpstart. He says that, despite a solid education at ITA and experience at MIT, he faced difficulties in immigration processes, such as canceling his Science Without Borders scholarship and proving his income for immigration to Canada.

Jumpstart's virtual assistant was developed to provide information on visas, green cards, and other immigration-related issues. The chatbot is available for free on the website and via WhatsApp and can be accessed by anyone who wants to better understand the immigration process without having to pay consultants or lawyers.

How does Jumpstart AI work?

Jumpstart's solution uses AI to provide clear, personalized answers. The virtual assistant answers immigration questions specific to each country, including the United States and Canada. For example, whether your profile is eligible for different types of visas;

For example:

  • Whether your profile is eligible for different types of visas;

  • How to bring your spouse and family members to the new country;

  • How to obtain a green card without relying on an employer;

  • Options for starting a business in the new country;

  • How to use other citizenships to facilitate the immigration process;

  • How to extend visas or change status;

  • Costs, timelines, and documentation for different types of visas.

The responses even keep up with the most recent changes in immigration processes. Artificial intelligence consumes news from the USCIS (United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency) every day and adapts the guidelines it provides to users based on the announced changes. "We use data from over 1,000 real cases of Brazilians who have already gone through the immigration process and reliable sources such as specialized lawyers. This allows us to offer accurate information," explains Rocha.

Jumpstart isn't just an immigration advisory service, but a platform facilitating the entire immigration process. It claims to have prices up to 50% lower than traditional law firms. The company also offers a partial refund policy in cases of denial, something rare in conventional consulting services.

"We know the immigration process can be expensive and intimidating, so we created an accessible alternative. Now, through a chatbot, more Brazilians can take the first steps toward emigration in a completely free, yet intelligent way," says Rocha.
